Welcome to St Aelred’s Catholic Church

Welcome from everyone at the parish of St Aelred. Here on our website you can find out more about our church and our parish community. We hope that you can find everything that you need in these pages but if not please do contact us.

Children and families are warmly invited to a special liturgy for children at 10am Mass on Sunday’s, during term time. Children from 4 – 8 years may attend the sessions in the parish hall during the first half of mass. Younger children may also join when accompanied by a parent.

Visitors are always most welcome to celebrate mass with us.

Parish News

Canon Gerard Kearney has been appointed by the bishop as St Aelred’s new Parish Priest from this summer. He will also be the new parish priest of St Mary’s, Knaresborough. As both St Aelred’s and St Mary’s Parishes will be under the care of one parish priest, it will be necessary to review the number and times of the Masses celebrated within the two parishes. Between now and the summer, Fr Simon Bradbury (the current Parochial Administrator of St Aelred’s and Dean of the Harrogate Deanery) and Deacon David Arblaster, together with the current parish priest of St Mary’s Knaresborough, will conduct a consultation exercise within both parish communities to try and discern with you all what the best configuration of liturgical provision might be.
