Leeds Cathedral Day of reconciliation

Joint Parish outing August 14th To celebrate the life and work of Pope Francis and the 10th Anniversary of the publication of his seminal work 'Laudato Si', we will be taking a day trip to the Laudato Si centre at Wardley Hall, Salford. https://laudatosicentre.org.uk/ Coach pickup and drop-off from St Aelred's and St Mary's carparks.  Full programme for adults and children at Laudato Si, stop at Banny's https://bannysbritishkitchen.co.uk/ on the way home for tea. Suggested donation £10. Sign up at the back of church, and further details will follow. All most welcome.

St Aelred’s late summer Fair will take place on Saturday 6th September from 2-4.30pm. We need lots of bottles – particularly wine and spirits, chocolates for the tombola, Hampers and vouchers. Please bring them to church as soon as possible and we will store them in a cool secure place. Home baking and preserves gratefully received on the day and lots of help.

Saturday 27th September We are joining the Diocesan Pilgrimage to Walsingham. The coach will leave Harrogate at about 6.15am arriving in time for Mass at 12 noon followed by procession along the Holy Mile and Benediction in the Abbey grounds. We will return to Harrogate about 10pm. Packed lunch will be needed, and we are hoping to plan a stop for fish and chips at the seaside on our return journey. St Mark’s way on the national jubilee pilgrimage of hope: begins on Saturday, 6th September with 8am Mass at Leeds Cathedral. Wall all or part of the way between the Cathedral and the Jubilee Pilgrimage Church of St Austin in Wakefield. See Diocesan website for details of how to sign up.

St Aelred’s Church is kept clean by a team of volunteers, working in pairs on a rota. We need at least four and, preferably more, volunteers to join the rota and share this important work. Each pair cleans the church, taking 2-3 hours about four times a year. Our SVPs collect food for the hungry, can you spare a tin a week for this also some toiletries? These can be left in the boxes at the back of our churches. The Lord tells us to feed the hungry, so thank you all for your donations which are sincerely appreciated.
